Junior Smash Round 2

‘Five days will quickly steep themselves in night.
Five nights will quickly dream away the time.
And then, Ashley Park, like an Oval made in heaven, shall behold the night of Junior Smash Round 2’

Have I bastardised a bard? Guilty as charged but Midsummer is upon us so perhaps forgivable. Hot on the heels of the longest day, Friday night (27-June) promises another festival of junior cricket hopefully without interruption from fairies or half-human, half-donkey type things!

Game 1 will see the two defeated teams from Round 1 going head-to-head to get themselves in the battle to finish top of the table. Both teams showed signs of what they are capable of in Round 1 and will be keen to chalk up their first win of the campaign. The Swans will have to manage without their influential captain; the manager yet to determine who will fill Izzy’s shoes for the night. Meanwhile, the Turtles manager is seeking enlightenment for future rounds and has placed the team in the capable hands of Joe Longworth for the night.

Game 2 sees the two winning teams from Round 1 vying for pole position. Lavery vs. Maher-Edwards as rival managers – expect fireworks!
The Badgers impressed with the bat last time out and boast the competition’s leading wicket-taker in Griff Kay. The Panthers have their manager back for Round 2 and will be keen to build on the tight death bowling that got them over the line in their first game.

The fun starts at 5pm with excitement guaranteed until ~9pm with Bar & BBQ open.

5pm: Swans vs. Turtles
~6:45pm: Panthers vs.  Badgers

Come down and celebrate midsummer with us. It’s a lot nearer with a lot less traffic than a trip to Stonehenge.

See you there.
