The Smash

Launched in 2020 by 1st XI captain Dan Roberts, The Smash is Walton’s internal tournament. Four teams compete in 15-over matches throughout the season, before one is crowned Champions on Finals Day.

Teams are selected through a draft before the season – each side is assigned junior players beforehand, who have the opportunity to play alongside and learn from their senior counterparts. The Smash offers the perfect opportunity for integration throughout the club.

Teams

Walton Bridge Badgers

Led by club stalwart Jamie Mann, the Badgers overcame their 2020 semi-final defeat to win The Smash in 2021, after a match-winning spell of 3-5 from youngster Tom Donnelly toppled the Turtles.

Ashley Park Panthers

Renowned for their uncompromising style of play, the Panthers were the inaugural winners of The Smash in 2020, before falling to semi-final defeat in 2021. With the first pick of the draft this year, they’ll be hoping to bounce back and regain their crown.

Silverdale Swans

Widely tipped to win the competition in its first year, the Swans fell at the final hurdle in 2020, before losing in the semi-final in 2021.
